Q & A with fatburn.com's Experts

Q:    i am not very old at all. i weigh 140 pounds. i hate being my weight. i mean i not fat but im not skinny. look i just need to kno what i could do to loose some weight.
Asked By angel
A:    Join the site. Take the demo and read through the articles and Q&A's under "Ask Fatburn". It will all make sense to you then. The basis of the Fatburn program is that you need to burn more calories than you consume to lose weight. Fatburn.com calculates for you how many calories you consume and burn. 3,500 calories = one pound of stored fat. Burn 3,500 calories more than you consume, you will lose weight. How much? One pound!

Q:    Which is better for joints in the knee and tighten loose skin on the thigh, treadmill or eliptical machine?
Asked By Jan
A:    The eliptical machine will be easier on your joints because it is an exercise with no impact. As far as tightening the skin on your thighs, neither is designed to do that. Read the article "Use Your Gym Wisely" found in the "Ask fatburn.com" section under "Previous Articles". Remember though, when you lose weight, you lose it proportionally across your whole body.

Q:    I just signed up and maybe i'm not entering in info correctly. It says that in medium daily activity level, it puts me at about 2000 calories. To me, running after a toddler all day long is medium activity. But weighing 164 lbs, 2000 calories would have me gaining weight. am I entering something in wrong, or reading the table wrong?
Asked By April
A:    The 2,000 calories is your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR). That's how many calories you burn by living, breathing, digesting, chasing around your baby, etc. That is only one part of the equation. Losing weight (or gaining weight) also depends on how many calories you CONSUME. Use fatburn.com to discover how many calories you are eating as well. We have a HUGE database containing almost any food you can think of and its caloric content. If you consume more than 2,000 calories per day, then you will gain weight (assuming no additional workout or exercise). Consume less and you will lose weight. How much? Well, for every 3,500 calories more you burn than you consume, you will lose one pound. That's it! That's the formula. Sign up for the site, and you will see how it all works. Thanks.

Q:    Hi, I am a college student who has just lost about 30 pounds, however, I can't afford to lose anymore, but at the same time I am afraid of gaining it back! I am very active, in fact I am on the college swim team, but the season has just ended. How can I stay fit, not hurt myself, and maintain my wieght? Also, do ellipticals really burn off as many calories as the indicator on the machine says it does? Thank you, JCH
Asked By Jessie
A:    Maintaining your weight is easy. Just burn the same number of calories that you consume. Fatburn.com is a great tool to help you maintain your weight. As for your question about the elliptical machine, we would suggest using the values given under the "Activities" tab on fatburn.com as being accurate for your weight, gender and age.

A:    Losing 56 lbs in 23 weeks is possible. However, this would stretch the limits of what we would consider to be a safe speed to lose the weight. If you target a 1000 net caloric burn each day, then you will lose about 46 lbs in 23 weeks.
Given your weight, age and gender, you burn about 1,600 calories per day by doing nothing. Now, if you eat 1,200 calories per day (the MINIMUM you should eat NO MATTER WHAT), then you need to burn an additional 600 calories through exercise. Some examples of exercises you could do to burn 600 calories include: Bicycling at 10-12mph for 60 minutes, using a Stair Master (moderately) for 60 minutes or walking uphill (at a nice incline) for about 60 minutes. You must do this EVERY DAY, and eat about 1,200 calories. Do this, and you should lose about 2 lbs per week.
Use fatburn.com to measure the exact caloric content of the foods you eat. The site also will tell you how many calories you will burn by doing hundreds of other exercises in addition to the examples we give above. Vary your workouts to keep it interesting. If you stick to this program, you WILL ACHIEVE YOUR GOAL. Just start right now! If you miss a day, NO PROBLEM! Just make up for it the next day. And remember: who cares what anyone else thinks! Do it for yourself. And by the way, forget about spending $4000 more. Fatburn.com is only about $72 for a full year. Plus, you should join a gym so that you can do the workouts we suggested above. Again, nothing to be embarassed about. The important thing is that you have identified a goal and you are willing to work hard to achieve it. Yes, you will have to work hard. But YOU WILL SEE RESULTS.
