Q & A with fatburn.com's Experts

Q:    I am 5'9, and i currently weigh 205. When I started losing weight I was 350 and went down to 190 and now I am back at 205, and it doesnt seem to want to go down no matter what i do? So if i keep going at it will eventually go away?? I am big boned and all my family is really really obese. So will i always be doomed to be a "big person'?? On monday, wednesday and friday I do weight lifting and upper body exercises, and on tuesday, thursday and friday i do stretching and my lower body. Then rotate days the next week. i also work on the eliptical trainer or walk for my cardio everyday and I do pilates and yoga over the weekends or on somedays. i always change my routine and the exercises I do but nothing ever happens so i get frustrated and give up. My eating habits are a little crazy but not all the time. i just dont know what else to do to get rid of this ugly fat..

 A:    Stacey,

Be proud of your accomplishment to this point. The big thing that sticks out when reading your question is the fact that you say your eating habits are a little crazy. When losing weight, there really isn't room for crazy. It's a tough job, and something that has to be in focus. If you sometimes eat well and other times don't, your body will just get confused and slow down to wait for a consistent message.

In order to lose one pound a week you have to burn 500 more calories than you eat each day. This is just a fact. When you do this, you give your body a consistent message of what you want it to do and it responds. Consistency, consistency, consistency. That is why we developed fatburn.com. When using the site you know each day if you ate and execised enough to reach your goal. There is not guessing.

You are not doomed to be a fat person. You can choose to change, like you already have. Just understand, you don't have enough time in the day to make up for bad eating habits.

Q:    Excellent site, thanks for all the useful information. I read with interest the fact that fat burning percentages increase over an hour of working out: i.e. running. What I want to ask is if that would still work if I broke up the session. Some sites suggest running for three 20 minute sessions in a day instead of one full hour. Because the metabolism is pumped up for a few hours after a workout it is a better way to burn calories. I very much appreciate your answer to this question. I'm about to start working out again after a long break and a big weight gain. I've the comittment to exercise for an hour but I like to work smart not just hard: if I can get the same benefits doing it easier great! Regards, Kerry.

 A:    Kerry,

The fact is your body will have to utilize more stored fat as an energy source as your aerobic workout progresses. However, focus on the calories burned vs. calories eaten for your weight loss. This will be where you make the big difference.
