Q & A with fatburn.com's Experts

Q:    How do I know what is the right amount of weeks to put in for my goal??...I don't want to be unrealistic..this is where I need help in setting realistic goals.
Asked By Anita
A:    The most realistic way to lose weight is to do it slowly and methodically. That pace would be one pound a week. For example, let's say you have 52 pounds to lose. Would you be happy to do that in a year? We think anyone would. In order to achieve 52 pounds of weight loss in a year, you only have to burn 500 more calories than you eat each day or 3500 calories a week. This will be a challange but achievable for almost anyone. We developed fatburn.com to give you the knowledge and guidence to succeed.

Q:    I WOULD TRULY LIKE TO BELIEVE YOU CAN HELP, BUT NO ONE CAN COME UP WITH A SOLUTION FOR MY DAILY ROUTINE, BUT I'LL GIVE YOU A SHOT TOO. M-F I GET UP AT 3:30 AM TO GET READY FOR WORK. I WORK UNTIL 10:30 AM, AND GO HOME TO DISPATCH TRUCKS AND DO A/R, A/P, OR READ LOAD BOARDS FOR 6-8 HOURS(SITTING ON THE BUTT IN FRONT OF THE COMPUTER). THE 3 OLDEST BOYS ARE, BY THEN HOME FROM SCHOOL, AND WE'RE DOING HOMEWORK, CHORES, OR RUNNING ERRANDS. MY DAY ENDS AT 10:30-11:00PM. ON SAT & SUN, I GET TO SLEEP FOR A CHANGE(USUALLY UNTIL 11AM)AND DO MORE PAPERWORK, CLEANING, AND TRYING TO GET SCHOOL PROJECTS DONE. I HAVE TRIED EVERY PILL AND DIET EVER MADE. I HAVE TRIED TO EAT "NORMALLY"(YOU KNOW, BFEST, LUNCH, DINNER)TO NO AVAIL, AND HAVE GAINED WEIGHT DOING SO. I GET NO EXERCISE, BECAUSE I TRULY DON'T HAVE TIME, OR THE ENERGY, OR ENOUGH HOURS IN THE DAY. I WON'T SACRIFICE TIME WITH THE BOYS(YOU KNOW, GO TO "WORKOUT")BECAUSE I DON'T GET MUCH WITH THEM. BESIDES, THEY SAY I'M ALWAYS DOING COMPUTER WORK ANYWAY(GUILT). DO YOU HAVE AN IDEA? I'VE LOST ALL HOPE, AND I DON'T WANT TO BE THE "FAT MOM" IN ANY OF THE BOYS CLASSES. CAN YOU HELP?

A:    You can lose weight without exercising, but it will just take time. All you need to do is consume fewer calories than you burn. For each pound of weight you wish to lose, you will have to burn 3,500 calories more than you burn. We know nothing about you- your height, weight or age so we cant suggest exactly what to do. However, sign up for fatburn.com and track EXACTLY what you eat. Try to target a few hunded calories per day (more than 200-300 is unlikely w/o exercise).

Q:    i am not very old at all. i weigh 140 pounds. i hate being my weight. i mean i not fat but im not skinny. look i just need to kno what i could do to loose some weight.

A:    Join the site. Take the demo and read through the articles and Q&A's under "Ask Fatburn". It will all make sense to you then. The basis of the Fatburn program is that you need to burn more calories than you consume to lose weight. Fatburn.com calculates for you how many calories you consume and burn. 3,500 calories = one pound of stored fat. Burn 3,500 calories more than you consume, you will lose weight. How much? One pound!

Q:    Which is better for joints in the knee and tighten loose skin on the thigh, treadmill or eliptical machine?
Asked By Jan
A:    The eliptical machine will be easier on your joints because it is an exercise with no impact. As far as tightening the skin on your thighs, neither is designed to do that. Read the article "Use Your Gym Wisely" found in the "Ask fatburn.com" section under "Previous Articles". Remember though, when you lose weight, you lose it proportionally across your whole body.

Q:    I just signed up and maybe i'm not entering in info correctly. It says that in medium daily activity level, it puts me at about 2000 calories. To me, running after a toddler all day long is medium activity. But weighing 164 lbs, 2000 calories would have me gaining weight. am I entering something in wrong, or reading the table wrong?
Asked By April
A:    The 2,000 calories is your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR). That's how many calories you burn by living, breathing, digesting, chasing around your baby, etc. That is only one part of the equation. Losing weight (or gaining weight) also depends on how many calories you CONSUME. Use fatburn.com to discover how many calories you are eating as well. We have a HUGE database containing almost any food you can think of and its caloric content. If you consume more than 2,000 calories per day, then you will gain weight (assuming no additional workout or exercise). Consume less and you will lose weight. How much? Well, for every 3,500 calories more you burn than you consume, you will lose one pound. That's it! That's the formula. Sign up for the site, and you will see how it all works. Thanks.
