Hi, I am a college student who has just lost about 30 pounds, however, I can't afford to lose anymore, but at the same time I am afraid of gaining it back! I am very active, in fact I am on the college swim team, but the season has just ended. How can I stay fit, not hurt myself, and maintain my wieght? Also, do ellipticals really burn off as many calories as the indicator on the machine says it does?
Thank you,
JCH |

Maintaining your weight is easy. Just burn the same number of calories that you consume. Fatburn.com is a great tool to help you maintain your weight. As for your question about the elliptical machine, we would suggest using the values given under the "Activities" tab on fatburn.com as being accurate for your weight, gender and age. |

Losing 56 lbs in 23 weeks is possible. However, this would stretch the limits of what we would consider to be a safe speed to lose the weight. If you target a 1000 net caloric burn each day, then you will lose about 46 lbs in 23 weeks.
Given your weight, age and gender, you burn about 1,600 calories per day by doing nothing. Now, if you eat 1,200 calories per day (the MINIMUM you should eat NO MATTER WHAT), then you need to burn an additional 600 calories through exercise. Some examples of exercises you could do to burn 600 calories include: Bicycling at 10-12mph for 60 minutes, using a Stair Master (moderately) for 60 minutes or walking uphill (at a nice incline) for about 60 minutes. You must do this EVERY DAY, and eat about 1,200 calories. Do this, and you should lose about 2 lbs per week.
Use fatburn.com to measure the exact caloric content of the foods you eat. The site also will tell you how many calories you will burn by doing hundreds of other exercises in addition to the examples we give above. Vary your workouts to keep it interesting. If you stick to this program, you WILL ACHIEVE YOUR GOAL. Just start right now! If you miss a day, NO PROBLEM! Just make up for it the next day. And remember: who cares what anyone else thinks! Do it for yourself. And by the way, forget about spending $4000 more. Fatburn.com is only about $72 for a full year. Plus, you should join a gym so that you can do the workouts we suggested above. Again, nothing to be embarassed about. The important thing is that you have identified a goal and you are willing to work hard to achieve it. Yes, you will have to work hard. But YOU WILL SEE RESULTS. |

Join the site or try the free weight loss profile. However, no matter how much you weigh, you need to burn 3,500 calories more than you consume for each pound lost. Thus, to lose 62 pounds, you will need to burn 217,000 excess calories. That is a daunting task to achieve by May 30th. Given the fact that there are 85 days left, that is a net burn of 2,500 calories per day. That means that if you eat say, 1,200 calories per day, you will have to burn 3,700 total. You will burn roughly 1,600 per day by doing nothing (your basal metabolic rate). The other 2,100 you will have to burn via exercise. For example, running at a 10 minute mile pace for an hour will burn about 900 calories. Since running for almost 2 1/2 hours per day is unrealistic, we would advise you to extend your timeframe. You could lose 60 pounds in 30 weeks (by the end of September) by targeting a 1,000 calorie net burn per day. If you eat 1,200 calories, you would only have to burn 600 calories EACH DAY via exercise. Join fatburn.com and find out exactly what you will have to do to achieve your goals. Thanks! |

Can my husband and I both use fatburn.com site for 5.99 per month or do we each need to pay in order to get seperate plans? |

No, only one person can use each account because the system personalizes itself for you. You and your husband have different basal metabolic rates, eat different foods and exercise differently. Each person must buy their own. Also, just so you are aware, it's $5.99 per month if you pay for a whole year in advance. If you want to go month by month, it's $7.99 per month. There is also a 3 month option where you pay for 3 months in advance at $6.99 per month ($20.97). Thanks for the question. Hope this helps. |

I do exercise every day. I run about 2-3 miles a day now, I used to read 6. I have looked at fatburn.coms Q & A page and did not find my answer. But I am going to try fatburn and see how I do. I think my metabolisim is permanently messed up. I used to be anorexic, see and still some bodily functions that were messed up are not functioning properly, so why should my metabolisim, ya know? :) What are your opinions on calorie cycling? Thank you. |

Amy, it may take a few months of eating right and exercising to get your metabolsim functioning normally again. For a very long time your body was doing it's best to survive while you were sick. To change that may take some time. Eventually, if you give your body a consistant message, it will begin to function normally again. Stick to eating a regular and healthy diet of your favorite foods while making sure you are burning 500 more calories than you eat and things will turn themselves around. Exercise is going to be crucial. You will have to eat at least 1200 calories a day and be in a 500 calorie a day deficit. To achieve this you will have to exercise at least 30 minutes a day. Once again, consistancy is going to be the key to your success. If you fluctuate around by burning 500 more than you eat one day and the next you eat more than you burn, your body will just stay where it is to protect itself. |
