Q & A with fatburn.com's Experts

Q:    Hi there! I am a well built lady, and have a lot of mustle in my legs. I do spinning a lot.....but, my bum is hanging and I can't seem to pull it up.(If you understand what I'm saying?) What exercise is good and will spinning help? Help me! Thanks a lot!
Asked By Liezl
 A:    Liezl,
There are two great exercises for lifting and firming the Gluteus Maximus, your butt. The first is squats. This exercise is a core exercise that uses all the muscles in your lower body, with a strong emphasis on the butt. Follow that with lunges, which also has a very strong emphasis on the butt. Do these two exercises to exhaustion, twice a week with a minimum of 72 hours between workouts. See a fitness professional in your gym to learn the correct form. Form is everything. When done correctly you will see results much quicker and avoid injury. Spinning won't do much for lifting that area. But, it's a great cardiovascular exercise that will assist you in burning off the calories you need in order to see your results from lifting weights. Good luck.

Q:    Would it be reasonable to lose 20 lbs in 3 months? I do spinning 2-3 times per week,40-60 min of cardio another 2-3 days per week, and weight training 2 or 3 times during the week. I also eat about 1200-1300 calories a day (never going below that). Would it be possible to meet my goal of losing 20 lbs in 3 months this way? Thanks

A:    Your question is very much the same as the one asked by Lin (see below). When you sign up for fatburn.com the system will tell you exactly what you need to do in order to lose the weight you want. Not knowing your gender, weight, daily activity level or stress level, it is difficult for us to precisely tell you what you need to do in order to lose 20 lbs. We can tell you this, though; in order to lose 20 lbs you will need to burn 70,000 calories more than you consume. So, to do this in 90 days, you will have to average a daily net caloric burn of 778 calories (70,000 divided by 90). Thus, if you consume 1,300 calories per day, you will need to burn almost 2,100 per day. For example if your daily metabolic rate adds up to 1,500 calories (the calories you burn for being alive), then you will have to burn the additional 600 calories by exercising. Sign up for fatburn.com, and the system will add up your calories consumed. Then it will caluclate your daily metabolic rate and add that to your calories burned through exercise. Finally, the system will net the calories consumed verses the calories burned. This munber will tell you if you reached the 788 more calories burned than eaten daily to be on track to lose 20 pounds in three months. This is all done in a few short minutes. Yes, it's that easy! Don't believe it, then check out all of the before and after pictures on fatburn.com. These are actual fatburn.com clients that used the system to lose weight- and keep it off.

Q:    What kind of exercises you need to do to burn the fat of your stomach(the fat on the sides" the rolls")?
Asked By ?
A:    The answer to your question is not in the exercise you do but in the amount of calories you burn verses the amount of calories you eat. There is no such thing as spot training. No matter how many crunches (or any other exercise) you do you will never see results if you don't use the fat for energy. The only way to use fat for energy is to be in a calorie deficit. You have to consistently burn a minimum of 500 calories more than you eat for seven days (3500 calories) to lose one pound of fat a week. When you string weeks together you will see the fat come off your sides and the rest of your body. Use fatburn.com to easily track all this information so you know on a daily basis that you are burning the calories needed.

Q:    hi! im a new comer in this site. i would like to ask you for advice because my problem is my big thighs, and upper arms. i was thinking that maybe i got them during my swimming classes'cause i swim. so, how would i make it slimmer? please help me with my problem i would really appreciate it if you would reply to me. thank you. more power!
Asked By ays
A:    Ays, The first thing to point out is that your swimming class didn't give you your problem areas. You may have built a little muscle in those areas causing them to look slightly bigger but the problem you're suffing from is directly related to body fat. The thighs and the upper arms are common areas where women store fat. This should make you feel good because you're normal. Next, you should understand that spot training those areas will just give you a great muscle underneath the fat you already have. This is what is happening with your swimming. When you see those commercials for the ab machines on TV, ones that promise a great six pack if you do their exercise, you have to look at the fine print. They always include a disclaimer that says, "Combine this exercise with a sound diet and exercise program". The only way you will lose the body fat on your thighs and upper arms is to use that body fat as energy. You have to burn more calories than you eat daily so your body uses your stored energy (body fat). Go to the "See Results" tab at fatburn.com and look at picture labeled, "I didn't think it could happen." She followed the fatburn.com system, simply burning more calories than she consumed, and she lost all that cellulite around her thighs. Use fatburn.com every day and make sure that you are burning at least 500 more calories than you eat every day. When you do this you will lose one pound for the week. As the pounds come off you will see them leave from the areas you're concerned with. Good luck!

Q:    I love this site/service. Here's my question. I'm trying to be conservative with my calories burned each day, I don't want to delude myself. How can I be sure that your base calories burned (i.e. just being me all day) is correct. When I put my information in, it says my normal calorie usage during the day is around 2,000. I'm 196 pounds, 5'9" and I have a low stress desk job at the moment. I went ahead and said "no stress" even though that's really not the case. I just want to be "real" about my plan. I'm 100% committed to getting down to about 165. Any thoughts you have would be appreciated.
Asked By Steven
A:    Steven, Thanks for the nice words. We think that your plan is a good one. Your Daily Metabolic Rate of around 2000 calories will be the largest caloric burn of the day. To match that in exercise would take about three hours of aerobic training and who has the time for that? Being conservative with your caloric burn can only get you to your goal quicker. You can be assured that the Daily Metabolic Rate we give you is as accurate as humanly possible without sending you to a lab. The most accurate method is calorimetry, which requires monitoring the amount of heat produced by a subject while in a resting and fasting state in a thermally neutral environment (neither hot nor cold). This method requires expensive equipment and is only available in certain facilities. Calorimetry gives you your Basal Metabolic Rate. We use the Harris-Benedict formula to find your BMR which was derived from Calorimetry. We then calculate the amount of calories burned on the job and through stress to come up with your Daily Metabolic Rate (the calories you burn daily because you are you). Just make sure that you eat balanced meals, exercise, use the site every day and burn a minimum of 500 calories more than you consume each day and you will lose the weight you want. Thanks again.
