Subject:  New Challenge for Me
Hi, I recently got out of the Active Army and totally thought I would be done with it forever. I moved to a great city and have been loving trying out the new foods, but of course, with the lack of physical activity and new foods, I've gained some weight. Also, my height and weight by BMI standards show that I'm overweight, but my look doesn't show that. I'm a little frustrated with that. I think my weight lifting does that to my weight. So anyway, I'm really excited to find this place, because I just signed back up to the National Guard and need to get back into shape. My husband and I started doing the 60/30/10 plan with carbs/prot/fat and I have really learned a lot by watching my fat intake, did you know that a quesadilla has 98g of fat in it. Yikes. Anyway, anyone want to talk, let me know and we'll exchange emails. I'm looking for people that are serious about this, and no offense I don't want a wierd chat partner. Good luck to everyone!

Stay with the numbers. As long as you keep giving your body a consistant message of burning more calories than you eat your system has to used stored energy (body fat) to survive. It's all about physics and the bodies need to survive. But the key is being consistant!!! Keep at it!!

I was stuck in exactly the same way. I lost consistently for three weeks and then started gaining and losing the same three pounds. I looked at the foods that I was eating and realized that even though I was keeping my calories low I wasn't eating very smart. I made a few minor adjustments and varied my workout a little bit and started losing again.

I also am experiencing the same thing.....At fist, I went from 238 down to 224-22 on a pretty smooth arc of about 5 weeks...but I have been plateau-ed at between 224.5 and 222 for about 5 weeks.....It is harder a think after the first blush of sucess passes...I really have to force myself to think about my eating before it happens and while it is happening, rather than just afterward. But I am pleased. I have gotten myself back on the exercise bike, again, not as consistantly as in sept and oct, but somewhat. If I just keep at it swlow and steady, and not let failing to move mountains in just weeks be an excuse to say F*ck it, I'll be OK. The hardest things for me to learn are patience and consistency. Being an ex athlete, I feel like the either you do a lot, or you dont bother. That is not the way to think of it. Changing habits that I just sort of became lockied into almost without knowing it will not happen overnight. I have to give myself credit for the little changes and not beat myself up for minor setbacks.

Good luck everyone!

sometimes I think we get into a rut when things are working and our bodies eventually get so used to them that we level out. Maybe try a different form of exercise or vary your foods. Maybe eat a larger meal at lunch and less at night. I find that if I shake things up a little bit, my body tends to pay attention and the weight starts to come off again.
